The guys and girls at Altitude Adventure had been seeing loads of news headlines last year about kids spending less and less time outdoors compared to their parents’ generations. Something that was hard for us to believe when we see so many people here each day. Apparently, it’s down to numerous things, such as having fewer outdoor spaces to explore, or simply the fact that people are spending more time behind screens. But that got us thinking, and we wanted to do something about it. We decided to create an event that would encourage children and parents to get some extra fresh air this Easter – particularly over the holidays – whilst doing something that inspires a sense of adventure.
So, we’re proud to announce our exciting new competition.
Our big DIY Adventure
We’re asking children and parents up and down the country to head outdoors and create their own obstacle course in their back gardens or local parks. This can be done using pretty much anything you have around the house – cardboard box walls, big piles of jumpers to crawl under, hoop tunnels, cones to run around… even a wall of humans! We’re asking people to be as creative as they can be in creating their own adventure playground.
What can you win?
1 x UNLIMITED pass for Family Visits for one whole year
2 x Free Family Climb tickets worth £35
How can you get involved?
- Get outside and have fun
- Build a 30-second obstacle course
- Take a photo or video of the course
- Post it on social media, tagging in us on Twitter, Facebook or Instagram, and/or using #DIYAdventure on those channels.
- Make sure you do it safely!
The best three homemade courses will then be put to a public vote on our Facebook page.
During the competition, we’re also going to be releasing downloadable templates to help inspire families to create some more fun in their gardens. You can read T&Cs over at our main competition page.
Hurry now – you’ve only got until the end of April to get your photos to us.
