Top 5 Fun Activities to do in Kent

Kent, also known as ‘The Garden of England’ is rich in heritage, areas of outstanding beauty and thrilling adventures. One of the home counties, Kent is a short commute from London allowing families and friends to have a day out without the need for a long trip or overnight accommodation. Kent is also famous for its position on the English coast with France visible across the channel, a mere 32km away. We’ve put together this list of highlights to give you ideas for a fun day out. If you’re looking to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life, these activities are for you.

Pirate Cove Adventure Golf

Pirate Cove Adventure Golf

Pirate Cove presents a swashbuckling adventure for young and old. This mammoth 36-hole adventure golf course has variety and excitement spanning everything from Captain Jim’s pirate ship all the way to Smuggler’s Cave. Designed and created by the geniuses of Adventure Experience, the course is perfect for days out, family activities, school trips, team building, hen dos, stag dos, and birthday parties.

Pirate Cove has something for everyone. Situated near the Bluewater shopping centre you can enjoy the fun of Pirate Cove along with some much needed retail therapy and even a bite to eat. This exciting adventure golf course also goes one step further with the new and exciting Gogo boat experience. Our shark-themed electric boats carry up to 4 passengers and let you set sail across the lake for a comfortable 30-minute journey. The simple joystick control makes these boats easy-to-use and safe meaning you can enjoy your very own pirate adventure and head for open waters.

Joe’s Bows

Archery

Joe’s Bows features a host of country sports and other activities. Take aim with a unique archery experience with a host of activities and challenges. As well as swing archery, target archery and field archery, they also have an exciting 3D field archery course. As if this weren’t enough you can also try your hand at axe throwing, crossbow shooting, Megaboom archery and slingshots.

Joe’s Bows has something a little more animal-focused too with a falconry experience like no other. Interact and learn about regal birds of prey. This experience allows you to meet a wide range of birds including hawks, kestrels, owls, buzzards and falcons.

The Big Cat Sanctuary

Big Cat Sanctuary

The Big Cat Sanctuary provides a home for some of the most endangered species on the planet. Originally the vision of Peter Sampson, this project informs and amazes guests all while raising awareness for conservation and the environment.

There’s loads to do including being a Ranger for a Day, big cat encounters, photographic workshops, overnight safari experiences and big cat adoptions. These encounters allow you to experience the majesty of wildlife including lions, pumas, leopards and cheetahs while learning about the incredible lives they lead.

Chimera Climbing Centre

Climbing Wall

Chimera is a dedicated climbing facility boasting some of the most exciting indoor bouldering in south-east England. With courses designed for adults and children, the whole family can take a drive and enjoy a day out with this heart-pumping activity. Along with the indoor course, they also have an outdoor course and even an indoor/outdoor course to give you the best of both worlds.

Chimera offers their site for private functions and parties too, making it a must for adrenaline junkies, families and corporate groups.

Fenton’s Rink

Fenton's Rink

Last but not least is Fenton’s Rink. This curling rink is loads of fun and lets you experience one of the Winter Olympic’s nuttier sports. Fun for all ages, this curling rink is open late making it ideal for corporate functions and daft days out with the mates. Who knows maybe it’ll be the highlight of an offbeat stag or hen do.

This indoor activity is ideal for days when the weather is against you. Wrap up warm and try this deceptively competitive sport.

These activities top the list on Kent’s wishlist. Along with beaches, cathedrals and walks, you’ll be sure to find the perfect activity for your day out in the south-east.
