We have all headed onto the Adventure Golf Course with all the banter about ‘whipping’ your opponents and getting a hole in one ‘like a boss’. But putting your money where your mouth is – that’s when things get real! But don’t worry, we have some top tips to get you playing like a pro in no time!
SIZE IS EVERYTHING
Make sure you get a putter that is the right fit for you, we have it on good authority that the club should reach your waist and your hands should sit comfortably in the middle of the grip. We have putters that come in all lengths so whether you are asked ‘how the weather is up there’ or you are knee high to a grasshopper we have got you sorted.
THE NEED FOR SPEED
Pace is everything…when you are playing, you need to train yourself to hit the ball with a carefully measured force, this will give you the control you need. Practice this on a level green and make sure the ball lands at the same or very similar spot each time and you will know you have cracked it. Obviously it’s a whole other ball game when you come to curved and more uneven surfaces. It’s important to hit the ball in the sweet spot, don’t hit too hard or too soft if you want to avoid the hazards which will cost you shots.
LEARN FROM OTHERS MISTAKES
One of the easiest ways to get the measure of a hole is to watch how your opponent’s play their shot, try and make sure you are last up and you will be able to note the pitfalls and angles that work so you can adjust your game and plan each shot to win.
DON’T GET PSYCHED OUT
You are down to the last few holes and coming tie with your bestie, this is when you really don’t want to drop a shot. The trick is not to let this kind of pressure stress you out, as you are sure to miss if you get inside your head. Keep your cool, and trust your technique. Focus on the shot in that moment and breathe – you have got this.
GIVE YOURSELF A TALKING TO
The best way to win is to believe you can win. Positive visualisation is more valuable than you think. If you picture the ball landing in the cup and you remain steady and focused, you have the best chance of your vision being realised.
