Who doesn’t love a sweet treat? That moment you take a bite into your favourite, sugar- loaded delicacy and allow the flavours to dissolve and marinate into tongue, is absolutely to die for. I mean what else is as satisfying when rounding up a stressful day in the office? (If you know, I’d love for you to share). Well here at Jurassic Falls we really understand how that craving can drive you crazy and if you’re here spending the day with the entire family, from your sister’s new-born to your moany mother-in-law, the need to satisfy that fix can be all too overwhelming. Don’t worry; we’ve got you covered…
You may be glad to know that here on site we have our very own, top quality Crepe and Waffle hut. That’s right we said it, a food hut dedicated to serving Crepes and Waffles (and a cheeky hotdog if you desire). We’re not just saying that to tickle your taste buds but we really do advise that you leave your meal plans at home today and take the opportunity to enjoy some of our freshly made pastries.
The History of the Crepe and Waffle…
Of course we could always just go on to describing how fantastic these crepes and waffles really are, but where’s the fun in that without a little history lesson so you know how the food you love has found its way to your belly…
Just in case you didn’t know, a crepe is a thin pastry that can be served as either a main meal or a dessert. This is because the crepe can be filled with a range of toppings which are either sweet or savoury, for the salt-craven foodies. This beautiful delicacy originated in the region Brittany is the northwest of France (high-five all Brittanians) but the wonderful recipe has definitely spread its wings and is now enjoyed in a range of countries from Belgium to Canada and even to North Africa.
In regards to (my favourite) the waffle, it’s a dessert that is made either from dough or batter. The waffle gets is characteristic pattern by being cooked between two patterned plates, making them that much more enjoyable. After tonnes of research I’ve come to conclude that no one really is sure whether the waffle originated in Belgium or France, so we’ll give props to both countries (whoop whoop)…
Anyway, history lesson over let’s get into the nitty gritty about how our Crepe and Waffle hut has managed to recreate the French flavours with such skill and precision.
Our Lovely hut lady, Jodie has crafted the perfect formula to create top quality crepes. When we’re talking top quality we mean crease-free crepes that solidify to a perfect density once mix meets hotplate and a perfect sweet to salty ratio. This ratio is so perfect that these crepes taste wonderful whether you decide to opt for a ham and cheese filling or whether the Nutella and strawberry topping is what your heart desires.
When it comes to the perfect waffle now, we sell no dreams here on this blog and I can admit that the waffles are imported straight from Belgium so that the perfect shape and flavour is met at all points. Don’t worry, this may seem a little discouraging however we can promise that these waffles taste like they came straight off the French Airways. The freshness is undeniable and the succulence will leave you speechless and by time you choose your favourite toppings from Strawberries to bananas and from caramel syrup to Nutella you honestly will be right back ordering the exact same thing just to settle the gnawing in your belly.
So if this blog has left you foaming at the mouth and ready to package your kids into the car to come straight over to visit the 8th wonder of the world, please don’t hesitate. Our highly recommended food hut will be open throughout the school holidays and during weekends throughout spring and autumn term time. We look forward to seeing you soon to get that sugar fix you’ve been after…
